New to Pathyn? Watch the quick tutorial:

Choose a map theme in the Themes panel.
Open the Themes panel by clicking the top button on the left.
Hover over the left buttons to see what they are.
If there is a default banner in your selected theme, write your own words in the banner.
If you don't want the default banner or compass rose, select it and press Delete or Backspace.
In the Tools panel, add a border by selecting the Frame dropdown.
Click Draw Path in the Tools panel, then left click on the map to add points.
Click Draw Path again or press Esc to finish the path.
Select a path, then press Delete or Backspace to remove it.
Drag your location pin, or right-click to delete.
To start a new map, click reset to remove everything and start again. This also restores any default banner or compass rose.

Open the Icons panel.
Select an icon.
Left-click the map to place it.
Place as many as you like while the icon is selected in the panel.
Select an icon, then press Delete or Backspace to remove it.
Right-click an icon to move it in front of or behind the frame, or to delete it.
Only one X marks the spot is allowed.
Left click and drag to move an icon.

Selecting an icon or another editing tool automatically turns off flip mode.
Use the slider to change the size of icons you add.
To flip an existing icon, check either the horizontal or vertical flip option, then left-click the icon.
To rotate an existing icon, select Rotate, then drag around the icon. Angles within 5 degrees of upright snap to zero.
Use the New icons dial or degree field to set rotation before placing icons.
Only one flip direction can be active at a time.
To return to normal icon editing, uncheck the flip option or select an icon again.
Use Reset if you want to clear icons and banner text.
Refreshing after a reset gets your zoom and location back.

Open Tools and choose a background in the Legend section for an information panel.
Select a legend, then place or drag text, icons, a QR code, shapes, or a short path into it.
Click and drag the legend/label to move it.
Drag a corner handle to resize the label.
Hold Shift while dragging a corner of a rectangular legend or shape to make it square.
Leave 'Scale contents when resizing' off to keep text and icons the same size, or turn it on in Tools or the right-click menu to scale contents with the legend.
Use the circular arrow handle to rotate the label.
Select the label to change its fill, outline, border width, or opacity.
Choose None in the outline colors to remove the label outline.
Select a label, then press Delete or Backspace to remove it. Right-click it for frame position (in front or behind frame border).

Finish designing the interactive version of your map.
Click Share on the left rail. Pathyn saves that version and creates a stable link.
Use Download QR to save the code separately, or Add QR to Map to place it on your design.
Drag the QR code to move it, drag its corner to resize it, or select it and press Delete or Backspace to remove it.
Download your finished map. Scanning its QR code opens the saved interactive map.
The QR code is printable decoration and is not embedded inside the shared interactive map. If you change the interactive map later, create a new share link and replace the old QR code.
